{"id":248818,"date":"2024-11-11T10:19:12","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T10:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/alan-tours-ahafo-region-promises-constitutional-reforms-to-empower-chiefs\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T10:19:12","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T10:19:12","slug":"alan-tours-ahafo-region-promises-constitutional-reforms-to-empower-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/alan-tours-ahafo-region-promises-constitutional-reforms-to-empower-chiefs\/","title":{"rendered":"Alan tours Ahafo Region, promises constitutional reforms to empower chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>As Ghana heads toward Election 2024, presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen has taken his campaign to the Ahafo Region, where he engaged with community leaders and pledged sweeping constitutional reforms aimed at empowering traditional chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>Starting his two-day campaign tour in Asunafo South, Kyerematen reaffirmed his commitment to including chiefs in his government if elected as president.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing traditional leaders and residents of Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency, he announced plans to amend the 1992 Constitution to empower chiefs, who he believes have been sidelined in national governance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1106228\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-11-11-at-09.23.30_df12283c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1143\"  \/>He argued that the Constitution currently restricts traditional leaders from fully participating in governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Constitution, as it stands, keeps our revered chiefs on the sidelines when they should be partners in governance. When Alan comes, we will change that aspect of the Constitution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained also that his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) included creating a Second Chamber, where chiefs would act as co-trustees of Ghana\u2019s lands and natural resources, bringing their knowledge and influence into national leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The Kotirehene of the Sankore Traditional Council, Nana Tabiri Gyansa, welcomed Kyerematen\u2019s commitment to elevating the role of chiefs, expressing a hope that this would address Sankore\u2019s lack of development.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1106231\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-11-11-at-09.23.30_b426b4a5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1143\"  \/>\u201cSankore and its surrounding communities have been neglected for far too long in terms of development and employment opportunities,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Alan emphasised that only a government of national unity can bring real change to Ghana, noting that his administration would end the partisan deadlock from stalling progress.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1106229\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-11-11-at-09.23.30_16b0c7be.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1143\"  \/>\u201cWe need a government that unites, not divides.
