{"id":248655,"date":"2024-11-11T05:17:29","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T05:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/reject-npps-vote-buying-skirt-and-blouse-campaigns-mahama-urges-electorate\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T05:17:29","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T05:17:29","slug":"reject-npps-vote-buying-skirt-and-blouse-campaigns-mahama-urges-electorate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/11\/reject-npps-vote-buying-skirt-and-blouse-campaigns-mahama-urges-electorate\/","title":{"rendered":"Reject NPP\u2019s vote-buying, skirt and blouse campaigns \u2013 Mahama urges electorate\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                       \n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged the electorate to resist the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) campaign on \u201cskirt and blouse\u201d in the upcoming December 7 election.<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reiterated the significance of voting based on principles of competence, integrity and proven track records of politicians dedicated to advancing national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing a mini rally at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mr Mahama criticised the NPP\u2019s strategy to entice the electorate to support NPP parliamentary candidates while casting their vote for any presidential candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He interpreted the cunning campaign by the NPP as an indication of the party\u2019s acknowledgement of defeat before the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He urged the electorate to remain vigilant, emphasising that the NDC would secure a majority in Parliament to effectively fulfil governmental responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mahama assured the crowd of the NDC\u2019s unwavering commitment to victory in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, disregarding any negative political manoeuvres employed by the NPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He accused the NPP of plunging many Ghanaians into poverty through reckless borrowing and mismanagement of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted the case of Dr Michael Agyekum Addo of Mikado, who faced financial distress due to the government\u2019s debt exchange program, leading to his unfortunate demise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former President underscored the adverse impacts of the debt exchange program, which was initiated to address the government\u2019s excessive borrowing of $11.5 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He lamented the hardships endured by numerous Ghanaians under the current administration and contrasted it with the progress achieved during his tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Mahama enumerated the infrastructural developments in Kasoa, such as interchanges, schools, and lorry stations, transforming the town and creating opportunities for its residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He cautioned that a vote for the NPP would be detrimental to the country\u2019s future, citing their poor management of national resources.
