The Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, GIPC, Yofi Grant, has bemoaned the country’s inability to create billionaires despite being a top exporter of gold and cocoa.<\/p>\n

According to him, after so many years of exporting these products, it is unfortunate that corresponding wealth status has not been created.<\/p>\n

In this light, he believes that when the private and public sectors of the economy collaborate, they will be able to create the economy that Ghana is meant to have.<\/p>\n

Speaking at this year’s Club 100 awards on October 28, 2024, he said: “Ghana has been exporting gold for more than 100 years and perhaps cocoa for even longer but we haven\u2019t created any billionaires out of these two exports that we have.<\/p>\n

“I am convinced that the private sector in partnership with the public sector will be the real impetus and movement of our economy,” he added.<\/p>\n

The GIPC CEO added that the economy grew by 4.8% in the first quarter of 2024, above the International Monetary Fund’s projection and 6.9% in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

According to him, this shows that the country is on a positive growth trajectory.<\/p>\n

He added that if private-public partnerships work truly, the country will see the growth that is expected.<\/p>\n
