{"id":247503,"date":"2024-11-07T16:13:01","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T16:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/07\/students-in-yendi-call-for-peaceful-elections\/"},"modified":"2024-11-07T16:13:01","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T16:13:01","slug":"students-in-yendi-call-for-peaceful-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/07\/students-in-yendi-call-for-peaceful-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Students in Yendi call for peaceful elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>As the December 7 general elections draw near, calls for peace are intensifying across Ghana, with schoolchildren in the Yendi municipality of the Northern Region joining the appeal for a calm and safe election period.<\/p>\n<p>These students are urging politicians to prioritize peace for the sake of children, who are among the most vulnerable during times of unrest.<\/p>\n<p>In a symbolic demonstration of their commitment to peace, students from Ivanmich Primary School in Yendi held a peace march, carrying placards with messages like <em>\u201cPolitical Violence Affects Children\u2019s Growth and Development,\u201d<\/em> <em>\u201cChoose Peace, Choose Progress,\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cDear Politicians, Remember Us; We Are the Future Leaders.\u201d<\/em> The march culminated with a petition to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), asking him to champion peace as the election approaches.<\/p>\n<p>The petition, delivered to the Municipal Coordinating Director Abdul Razak Yakah on behalf of the MCE, called on local leaders to take proactive measures to ensure a safe environment for all citizens during the election period.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of her fellow students, Farida Burhaideen emphasized the risks children face when peace is disrupted and appealed to the MCE to safeguard their future by ensuring a peaceful election season.<\/p>\n<p>Yakah, receiving the petition, expressed his appreciation for the students\u2019 commitment to peace and assured them that their message would be relayed to the MCE.
