{"id":245881,"date":"2024-11-05T10:33:42","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T10:33:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/05\/my-govt-will-stabilise-economy-reduce-exchange-rate-below-gh%c2%a25-alan\/"},"modified":"2024-11-05T10:33:42","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T10:33:42","slug":"my-govt-will-stabilise-economy-reduce-exchange-rate-below-gh%c2%a25-alan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/11\/05\/my-govt-will-stabilise-economy-reduce-exchange-rate-below-gh%c2%a25-alan\/","title":{"rendered":"My govt will stabilise economy, reduce exchange rate below GH\u00a25 &#8211; Alan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0The Presidential Candi\u00addate of the Movement for Change, Mr Alan Kyere\u00admaten, has pledged to stabilise the economy and reduce the exchange rate to below GH\u00a25 if elected President.<\/p>\n<p>During his mega victory walk in the Greater Accra Region, on Saturday, Mr Kyerematen voiced his dismay over the current eco\u00adnomic challenges, emphasising his commitment to an economic trans\u00adformation that would address the country\u2019s inflation and exchange rate struggles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exchange rate is currently almost $1=GH\u00a217, and that is un\u00adacceptable,\u201d he stated that pledg\u00ading to overhaul the economy and bring the rate to a level that would restore confidence and purchasing power for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech after the walk, Alan identified four major prob\u00adlems facing the nation \u2013 unemploy\u00adment, corruption, illegal mining, and the ailing economy.<\/p>\n<p>He assured the crowd that comprehensive solutions to these issues were embedded in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), positioning it as the only detailed, pragmatic blueprint aimed at tackling the root causes of these challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kyerematen noted that he stands apart as the sole politician who had boldly presented practical solutions to Ghana\u2019s most pressing issues, further building confidence among supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Alan further highlighted that his approach would centre on an agri\u00adcultural revolution, industrial trans\u00adformation, and tourism promotion, which he believed were essential to job creation and economic stability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough a robust investment in agriculture and local industries, we will create sustainable employ\u00adment opportunities, particularly for the youth,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>His plan also emphasised that boosting domestic production and reducing reliance on imports would help ease the pressure on the cedi.<\/p>\n<p>Touching on his plans to em\u00adpower the youth, Alan expressed concern over the high youth un\u00ademployment rate, which has com\u00adpelled many into illegal mining, commonly known as Galamsey.<\/p>\n<p>He promised to create pathways for young Ghanaians to enter responsible small-scale mining through legal channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will cease the licenses of those politicians who have been using the youth and give them to the youth to establish small-scale mining companies that will be owned by them,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the government would provide mining equipment and machines on a work-and-pay basis, allowing young entrepre\u00adneurs to establish themselves in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The former Trade and Industry Minister outlined policies aimed at enabling young people to establish their own businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, My Kyerematen assured the public that his gov\u00adernment would support young entrepreneurs with funding, busi\u00adness development training, and access to markets to grow their enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to the various youth empowerment policies, it will be difficult for the youth to complete school without securing jobs or self-employment opportunities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kyerematen also made clear on his position on political inclu\u00adsivity, announcing that his govern\u00adment would prioritise a national unity approach by appointing the most qualified individuals across political lines to key positions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my government, if you are NDC, NPP, or someone who doesn\u2019t do politics but can do the job, I will appoint you to be part of it,\u201d he declared, emphasising that competency would be the pri\u00admary consideration,\u201d he outlined.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0The Presidential Candi\u00addate of the Movement for Change, Mr Alan Kyere\u00admaten, has pledged to stabilise the economy and reduce the exchange rate to below GH\u00a25 if elected President.
