Head coach of Sudan, James Kwasi Appiah, has been lauded for his genius tactical approach that aided his side to triumph over the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers second leg.

Some social media users noted that with Otto Addo struggling to excel with the team in his second tenure in charge, it would be prudent for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to re-appoint Kwasi Appiah to take charge of the team.

Others strongly disagreed with this assertion, arguing that the problems in the Black Stars go beyond coaching and that Appiah might not be given the freedom to operate and handle affairs as he is doing with Sudan.

Hence, they would advise Appiah to stick to his job in Sudan and reject any approach from the GFA if offered the chance.

About the Ghana-Sudan game

Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud Mohammed and Yousif Yagoub scored the two goals for Sudan to defeat the Black Stars, who struggled to find their best form, failing to create chances and pose a threat to the Sudanese as they had in the first game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After four matches played, Ghana lies in third place in Group F with two points, Sudan in second place with seven points, while Angola leads with nine points, waiting to play their fourth game.

The Black Stars will travel to face Angola and play the last match against Niger in Ghana.

The chances of the team qualifying have become slim, with a defeat in any of the next two games likely to jeopardize the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Read the social media reactions below:

B’cos he score Ghana?tueh he’s be bad as wanna coach naa,no be KP wey e talk say mke the opponent taya b4 e go bring ein experience and good players on?we get short memory like someone suggested ampa

— Mckuntis1 AK-0000486 (@Mckuntis1) October 16, 2024

He was the coach on two separate occasions and the longest serving.
