The \u2018Drip\u2019 hitmaker Gambo visited VOA\u2019s studios in Washington, where he sat down with reporter Mike Hove to share his experiences so far in the US, where he\u2019s been on tour for months. He spoke about experiencing the \u201cAmerican dream\u201d in reality.<\/p>\n
In the interview, Gambo revealed what it felt like to meet Snoop Dogg for the time back in February 2024, saying Snoop Dogg was a very warm personality who \u201cmakes you feel like you know him, he doesn\u2019t give you the chance to be nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that the meeting between Gambo, the Vodafone Ghana Award-winning rapper and the legendary Snoop Dogg took place in Los Angeles, California on the sidelines of the African pre-Grammy Awards Global Affairs event.<\/p>\n
On his musical projects, Gambo disclosed \u201cI am already working on an Afrobeats Album that I want to come out with.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the successful release of the drip remix with Jim Jones it showcased the rich African culture and narrated how the remix came about.<\/p>\n
Gratitude To Afrobeats Pioneers<\/strong><\/p>\n Giving a shoutout to the pioneers of Afrobeats whom he said opened the way for the younger generation of Afrobeats artists like himself to gain access and recognition around the world, Gambo says \u201cAfrobeats Is at the stage where everybody is excited for it. It\u2019s like a new sound, it\u2019s like something vibrant that people are ready to dance with, afrobeats makes you happy.\u201d<\/p>\n Unity and Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n Calling for unity and collaboration among African artists, the Ghanaian rapper of internationally acclaimed said: \u201cThis is the time we need to push, this is the time we need to support each other and push our culture to the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Still on music collaboration, Gambo his collabo with Nigerian musician, Goya Menor, on his hit song, \u2018Cut Soap\u2019, was so far his biggest African collaboration, even though his other collaborations with another Nigerian artist, Lade on \u2018Nobody\u2019, and Tanzanian musician,\u00a0Young Daresalama<\/p>\n on the track \u201cSio Simple\u201d have also been highly successful.<\/p>\n Tribute to Michael Blackson<\/strong><\/p>\n Gambo seized the opportunity to pay glowing tribute to actor and comedian, Michael Blackson, whom he said has been very supportive of his music career and instrumental in connecting him to several top brass in the US music industry including Jim Jones.<\/p>\n Catch the full Interview on YouTube<\/p>\n
