Some Ghanaians on social media have expressed concerns over the treatment of local players in the Black Stars after a video surfaced online showing home-based players being made to carry an ice chest during training.

Many claimed that the video indicated that the local players are not accorded the same respect as the foreign-based players.

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, and Samartex defender, Isaac Afful, were the two players made to carry the chest right after alighting from the team bus.

The two players are the only local players included in Otto Addo’s 25-man squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.

The Black Stars held their first training session ahead of the game with 11 players, including some big names like Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Jordan Ayew, Fatawu Issahaku, and a few others.

The second session will have 19 players present following the arrival of 8 more players today, October 8, 2024.

Ghana will face Sudan in a doubleheader, with the first leg slated for October 10 in Accra and the return leg on October 15, 2024, in Libya.

Why didn’t they give the ice chest to the foreign players and gave it to the local players

— Amodrix 🗿 (@NhyiraAmoah2) October 7, 2024

Notice how they give the ice chest to the local players in the team😂😂

— Omar 👑🙏🍀 (@TerkpeteyDugba1) October 7, 2024

Why are they giving the ice chest to only the local players what is that guy standing at the bus gate doing .

— Nana Sarpong Asante (@Nanakaa1957) October 7, 2024

Aziz should be carrying those ice-chest coolers. 😡 https://t.co/Lkho4pkwws

— Felix Romark (@FelixRomark) October 7, 2024

So it’s just the local players that’ll be tasked to carry ice chest?
