{"id":215853,"date":"2024-09-09T05:04:03","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T05:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/09\/09\/two-mpox-patients-discharged-three-remain-hospitalized\/"},"modified":"2024-09-09T05:04:03","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T05:04:03","slug":"two-mpox-patients-discharged-three-remain-hospitalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/09\/09\/two-mpox-patients-discharged-three-remain-hospitalized\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Mpox Patients Discharged, Three Remain Hospitalized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-319554\" alt=\"\" width=\"905\" height=\"575\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/MPOX.jpg\"\/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-319554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/MPOX.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"905\" height=\"575\"  \/>The Ministry of Health has confirmed that two out of five individuals diagnosed with mpox have received treatment and been discharged from the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki reported on Saturday that three patients remain hospitalized and are continuing their medication.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe look forward to seeing the three patients recover and return home to their families,\u201d<\/em> Muthoni stated at the ACK Kutus Church in Kirinyaga County.<\/p>\n<p>She assured Kenyans that the ministry has strengthened surveillance and screening at entry points to help contain the spread of mpox.<\/p>\n<p>Muthoni advised the public to protect themselves by avoiding close contact with individuals showing signs and symptoms of the disease.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMake sure not to share clothes or personal items like bathing towels, and always maintain cleanliness by washing your hands regularly,\u201d<\/em> she emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The PS also noted that the Ministry of Health remains vigilant in controlling the spread of the disease. <em>\u201cI urge everyone to disregard propaganda from photos shared on social media,\u201d<\/em> Muthoni implored.<\/p>\n<p>The PS urged the church to take an active role in promoting public health measures. She stated, <em>\u201cWe have agreed with the church to continue educating people about good public health practices, with support from our community health promoters.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kenya confirmed its fifth case of M-pox on September 6, with plans to begin administering vaccines for the disease by December.<\/p>\n<p>Health Director-General Patrick Amoth announced that Kenya will obtain 2 million doses from a Denmark-based manufacturer, with the vaccination campaign prioritizing vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Health has confirmed that two out of five individuals diagnosed with mpox have received treatment and been discharged from the hospital.
