That freedom isn\u2019t a favor from State House but a constitutional protection,\u201d<\/em> the letter emphasized. <em>\u201cYou should not act under the whims of the government or any state agency. You MUST be as independent as possible,\u201d<\/em> they urged.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317988\" alt=\"\" width=\"516\" height=\"521\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Nanenane.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317988\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Nanenane.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"516\" height=\"521\"  \/><\/p>\n<h5><strong>\u2018Constructive Headlines\u2019<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Moreover, the Gen Zs called on media houses to adopt more constructive headlines that accurately reflect their push for positive reforms and national change.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe demand that you use more accurate and constructive headlines such as \u2018Pro-Good Governance Protests\/Protesters,\u2019 \u2018Brave Young Kenyans,\u2019 \u2018Voices for Change,\u2019 etc.,\u201d<\/em> the letter specified.<\/p>\n<p>The Gen Zs urged media organizations to avoid labeling them as anti-government protesters, clarifying that their struggle is against poor governance rather than the government itself.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKindly desist from labeling us as \u2018anti-government protesters,\u2019\u201d they remarked. \u201cWe oppose bad governance, opulence among leaders, incompetence, corruption, unemployment, the high cost of living, greed among MPs (whom we call \u2018Mpigs\u2019), and Ruto\u2019s pathological lies,\u201d<\/em> they added.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Live Coverage of Nane Nane March<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The protesters also requested live coverage of the upcoming Nane Nane event to document and expose police brutality and state-sponsored violence.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe request you to provide live coverage, a glimpse-by-glimpse account of how the protests will unfold in Nairobi and other parts of the country during the #NaneNaneMarch,\u201d<\/em> the letter stated.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYour live reportage is crucial as it will reveal police brutality against peaceful protesters and the criminal acts of state-sponsored goons hired to incite chaos and falsely blame it on us,\u201d<\/em> they explained.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317989\" alt=\"\" width=\"773\" height=\"497\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1723011642_76_protest.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317989\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1723011642_76_protest.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"773\" height=\"497\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The youth expressed their determination to fight for their rights and urged all media houses to fulfill their responsibilities by providing fair and accurate coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the Gen Zs warned against colluding with oppressors, asserting that the media must remain a steadfast ally in their fight for justice and accountability. <em>\u201cWe warn you not to collude with our oppressors, as you are and will always be our last line of defense,\u201d<\/em> they said.<\/p>\n<p>In their letter, the Gen Zs praised KTN News for its commitment to independent reporting while condemning Citizen TV for its lack of coverage of previous protests.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe applaud KTN News for resisting government intimidation.
