He also disclosed that the government is in contact with the World Bank to secure additional financing.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are starting discussions on a new program, possibly with the IMF and other partners,\u201d<\/em> PS Kiptoo told lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>He added, <em>\u201cThe state is already negotiating with the World Bank for new development policy financing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also addressed legislators, affirmed the government\u2019s commitment to acquiring more funding from external lenders.<\/p>\n<p>Despite recent developments in Kenya, Mudavadi noted that the national treasury has engaged in robust discussions with the IMF. He stated that these discussions would continue in August, with the disbursement of the multi-billion loan expected by April next year.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTo resolve our debt challenge, we need a program with the IMF. It cannot be otherwise,\u201d<\/em> Mudavadi told MPs.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing concerns about Kenya\u2019s relationship with the IMF, Mudavadi dismissed allegations of a potential disassociation from multilateral lenders.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf anyone misleads people by suggesting that you can walk away from the IMF and have your way, it is not true,\u201d<\/em> Mudavadi clarified.
