{"id":200610,"date":"2024-07-17T13:24:35","date_gmt":"2024-07-17T13:24:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/07\/17\/why-west-ham-are-yet-to-strike-jhon-duran-and-kyle-walker-peters-deals\/"},"modified":"2024-07-17T13:24:35","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T13:24:35","slug":"why-west-ham-are-yet-to-strike-jhon-duran-and-kyle-walker-peters-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/07\/17\/why-west-ham-are-yet-to-strike-jhon-duran-and-kyle-walker-peters-deals\/","title":{"rendered":"Why West Ham are yet to strike Jhon Duran and Kyle Walker-Peters deals \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>West Ham United believe Aston Villa\u2019s valuation of Jhon Duran is too high, sources have told\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>90min<\/strong><\/em><strong>, while a deal for Southampton\u2019s Kyle Walker-Peters could still happen after initial conversations were held before the Premier League\u2019s PSR deadline.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Hammers began actively\u00a0working on a deal to sign Duran\u00a0last week, with the 20-year-old keen to leave Villa Park in order to play more first-team football.<\/p>\n<p>Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is happy for Duran to leave \u2013 he serves as understudy to Ollie Watkins and is impatient to wait for game time \u2013 but the surprise Champions League qualifiers are looking to agree a package deal worth in the region of \u00a340m.<\/p>\n<p><em>90min<\/em>\u00a0understands that West Ham are currently \u00a310m short of that valuation and are not convinced such an asking price represents good value for money, particularly as Lille\u2019s Jonathan David and Arsenal\u2019s Eddie Nketiah \u2013\u00a0strikers of a similar profile \u2013 are available for less.<\/p>\n<p>The passing of the PSR deadline on June 30 means Villa are not under pressure to sanction a quick deal for Duran, though they will need to make their money back on the \u00a350m they are about to spend on Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. Nonetheless, sales could still come later this window, in January or any other time before June 30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>West Ham\u00a0have also been in talks with Southampton over Walker-Peters, but the bulk of conversations were held pre-PSR deadline when a deal was being thrashed out for midfielder Flynn Downes.<\/p>\n<p>Southampton have signed Downes for \u00a318m without needing to make a financial sacrifice and West Ham are yet to strike a separate agreement over Walker-Peters.
