{"id":184912,"date":"2024-05-30T15:07:20","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T15:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/05\/30\/no-gutter-no-vote-nanakrom-residents-chant\/"},"modified":"2024-05-30T15:07:20","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T15:07:20","slug":"no-gutter-no-vote-nanakrom-residents-chant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/05\/30\/no-gutter-no-vote-nanakrom-residents-chant\/","title":{"rendered":"No gutter, no vote; Nanakrom residents chant \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Residents of Nanakrom in the Adentan constituency have threatened to boycott the 2024 election over the poor drainage system in the area.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to them, their homes are submerged after just a few hours of rainfall due to the absence of storm drains, destroying properties.<\/p>\n<p>Also, people always drown, with the latest victims being two adults; Mohammed Muftawu and another yet-to-be-identified.<\/p>\n<p>The residents expressed frustration on\u00a0<strong>People\u2019s Forum<\/strong>, a segment on Adom FM\u2019s morning show,\u00a0<strong>Dwaso Nsem\u00a0<\/strong>Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>They said calls for urgent attention have fallen on deaf ears.<\/p>\n<p>They said the Member of Parliament (MP) Adamu Ramadan had visited the area on several occasions and is aware of their situation but nothing has been done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere has never been a rainy season which does not wreak havoc in the community and we always have to flee our homes while others look on helplessly as their items are swept away by the flood,\u201d a resident lamented.<\/p>\n<p>A group of disgruntled residents also chanted, \u201cIf they don\u2019t construct the drain, then they should forget about the election.
