{"id":184629,"date":"2024-05-30T09:52:06","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T09:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/05\/30\/kenha-issues-traffic-disruption-advisory-ahead-of-madaraka-day\/"},"modified":"2024-05-30T09:52:06","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T09:52:06","slug":"kenha-issues-traffic-disruption-advisory-ahead-of-madaraka-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/05\/30\/kenha-issues-traffic-disruption-advisory-ahead-of-madaraka-day\/","title":{"rendered":"KeNHA Issues Traffic Disruption Advisory Ahead of Madaraka Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-314627\" alt=\"\" width=\"815\" height=\"405\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/malaba.jpg\"\/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-314627\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/malaba.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"815\" height=\"405\"  \/>The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced anticipated traffic disruption ahead of the Madaraka Day Celebrations scheduled to take place in Bungoma County on June 1.<\/p>\n<p>In a notice issued on May 28, 2024, KeNHA Director General Kung\u2019u Ndung\u2019u stated that temporary traffic disruption is set to occur on the Malaba \u2013 Webuye road due to the celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>KeNHA expects this traffic disruption to occur from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public of a temporary traffic disruption on the A8 Road between Malaba Border and Webuye Town due to the Madaraka Day celebrations scheduled to take place at Masinde Muliro Stadium, Kanduyi in Bungoma Town on Saturday, 1st June 2024,\u201d<\/em> a public notice read in part.<\/p>\n<p>KeNHA at the same time provided alternative routes for motorists, anticipating that the celebrations may cause traffic disruption on adjacent road sections.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority has mapped out alternative routes for traffic bound for the North Rift, Nyanza, and Western Regions due to the disruption.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Alternative routes<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>In the first section of the A8 Road between Malaba and Webuye, motorists were advised to use the following alternative routes:<\/p>\n<p>Route 1: Malaba \u2013 Rwatama \u2013 Sirisia \u2013 Chwele \u2013 Kimilili \u2013 Misikhu \u2013 Webuye (Total: 91.9 Km, with the Rwatama to Sirisia section of 16 Km done to gravel standards)<br \/>Route 2: Malaba \u2013 Kimaeti \u2013 Mungatsi \u2013 Mayoni \u2013 Kakamega \u2013 Webuye (Total: 134.4 Km, with the Kimaeti to Mungatsi section of 19 Km done to gravel standards)<\/p>\n<p>For traffic plying between Malaba and Kisumu, KeNHA advised motorists to use the following routes:<\/p>\n<p>Route 1: Malaba \u2013 Busia \u2013 Kisumu (Total: 140.3 Km)<br \/>Route 2: Malaba \u2013 Kimaeti \u2013 Mungatsi \u2013 Mayoni \u2013 Ekero \u2013 Ebuyangu \u2013 Kisumu (Total: 138.4 Km, with the Kimaeti to Mungatsi section of 19 Km done to gravel standards)<\/p>\n<p>Traffic between Malaba and Kitale will also be affected, with motorists expected to use the following route:<\/p>\n<p>Malaba \u2013 Rwatama \u2013 Sirisia \u2013 Chwele \u2013 Kimilili \u2013 Kamukuywa \u2013 Kitale route (Total: 117.1 Km, with the Rwatama to Sirisia section of 16 Km done to gravel standards).<\/p>\n<p>KeNHA issued a traffic advisory for return traffic through the Lwakhakha border, with motorists expected to use the following routes:<\/p>\n<p>Route 1: Lwakhakha \u2013 Korisiandet \u2013 Wamono \u2013 Sirisia (Total: 15 Km)<br \/>Route 2: Matisi \u2013 Bokoli \u2013 Teremi (Total: 22 Km done to gravel standards)<\/p>\n<p>Following the advisory, motorists were urged to adhere to traffic rules. Cargo trucks plying the route were encouraged to utilize the truck holding bay at Leseru.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotorists are advised to adhere and follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as directed by the Police and Traffic Marshalls on-site.
