{"id":146098,"date":"2024-02-01T05:03:44","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T05:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/02\/01\/state-agrees-not-to-interfere-with-jomo-kenyattas-firearms\/"},"modified":"2024-02-01T05:03:44","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T05:03:44","slug":"state-agrees-not-to-interfere-with-jomo-kenyattas-firearms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/02\/01\/state-agrees-not-to-interfere-with-jomo-kenyattas-firearms\/","title":{"rendered":"State Agrees Not to Interfere with Jomo Kenyatta&#8217;s Firearms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-296907\" alt=\"\" width=\"856\" height=\"473\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jomo-1.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-296907\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jomo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"856\" height=\"473\"  \/>John Jomo Kenyatta, the son of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, has withdrawn a case he had filed against the State last year regarding the government\u2019s attempt to revoke his firearms license.<\/p>\n<p>Jomo, along with the Chief Licensing Officer, the Firearms Licensing Board, and the Attorney General, resolved the gun license dispute and formally recorded a consent in court.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the Attorney General, represented by State counsel Munene Wanjohi, announced that they had reached a consensus with Mr. Kenyatta\u2019s team, facilitated by his lawyer Fred Ngatia.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Jairus Ngaah marked the matter as settled in the adopted consent, wherein the state committed not to interfere with Jomo\u2019s firearm license.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the state affirmed its commitment to adhere to the procedures outlined in the Firearms Act when handling Jomo\u2019s firearms.<\/p>\n<p>the consent read.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions between Uhuru\u2019s son and the state to explore the possibility of settling his firearm license case outside the courtroom started in December 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Jomo took legal action against the chief licensing officer, the Firearms Licensing Board and the Attorney General following a police raid on his home in Karen, Nairobi on July 21, 2024, where officers demanded the surrender of his firearms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Jomo Kenyatta, the son of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, has withdrawn a case he had filed against the State last year regarding the government\u2019s attempt to revoke his firearms license.
