{"id":143913,"date":"2024-01-26T15:15:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T15:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/26\/fire-service-stops-man-from-killing-self-over-failed-visa-deal-in-kano\/"},"modified":"2024-01-26T15:15:46","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T15:15:46","slug":"fire-service-stops-man-from-killing-self-over-failed-visa-deal-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/26\/fire-service-stops-man-from-killing-self-over-failed-visa-deal-in-kano\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Service Stops Man From Killing Self Over Failed Visa Deal In Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-624301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/us-visa-application-in-nigeria-step-by-step-guide.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"626\" height=\"375\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A 37-year-old man, Saifillahi Rabiu, on Thursday, resorted to hanging himself over inability to procure the right visa for some persons.<\/p>\n<p>However, the suicide plan was thwarted by the Kano State Fire Service.<\/p>\n<p>Details of the incident contained in a statement issued by the Fire Service Public Relations Officer (PRO), Saminu Abdullahi, disclosed that the incident happened at State Road, Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received a distress call at about 10:07 a.m. from the Ministry of Works and Housing, Kano state, about a suicide attempt by hanging on a tree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn receiving the information, we quickly sent our fire fighting vehicle to the scene at 10:10 a.m.,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: Nigeria Troops Kill Three Bandits In Taraba<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Rabiu, a resident of Semegu Quarters, attempted to hang himself over his inability to refund N2 million to those he tried to assist in obtaining a travel Visa.<\/p>\n<p>Those he helped secure visa rejected the type of visa he got them as that wasn\u2019t what they agreed on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring interrogation, we gathered that Rabiu connected some people to those that process travel visas to foreign countries, which was successful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose he tried to help, however, rejected the visa, saying it was not the type they paid for and demanded for a refund of their money already paid to the processors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe reliably gathered that he was able to raise half-a-million naira only.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut pressure and threats from the people he wanted to assist made him to try to take his own life,\u201d the PRO added.<\/p>\n<p>Rabiu, according to the PRO, was rescued alive and handed over to Zaharaddini of Farm Centre Police Division.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-1164681645\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 37-year-old man, Saifillahi Rabiu, on Thursday, resorted to hanging himself over inability to procure the right visa for some persons.
