The Member of Parliament for the Akim Abuakwa South constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea, has criticized individuals who blame Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the country\u2019s economic woes.<\/p>\n
He acknowledged that the economy is not in its best form, describing it as \u2018unkind\u2019 and \u2018cruel\u2019 for anyone to attribute economic issues in the Akufo-Addo government to Dr. Bawumia.<\/p>\n
Mr. Atta Akyea insisted that the vice president was in a very serious adversary role that prevented him from making some sensitive decisions for the country.<\/p>\n
Atta Akyea underscored the need for the electorate to vote for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December polls to change the fortunes of the country.<\/p>\n
The MP for Akim Abuakwa South described Dr. Bawumia as the finest gentleman with \u2018shock absorbers\u2019 who is ready to serve the nation.<\/p>\n
Ghana has been experiencing an economic downturn for a while now, with the government seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Fund.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first time Ghana is going to have a president who is an economist, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. If the problem of Ghana now and people are talking about its seriousness, I agree to a reasonable extent that the economy is not in its best form. When you have a toothache, do you give it to a carpenter or a dentist? Ghana will be in a safer pair of hands when we bring Dr. Bawumia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ghana is going to get a man with shock absorbers, the finest gentleman, to help us solve a major problem facing us, the economy. He was in a very serious adversary role, which is what people don\u2019t want to see. It\u2019s cruel and vile propaganda for everybody to say that let\u2019s place all the economic woes of Akufo-Addo on Dr. Bawumia. It\u2019s unkind,\u201d Atta Akyea said during an interview on Face to Face<\/strong>, on Citi TV<\/strong>.<\/p>\nHe said he does not believe in the ability of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to manage the government\u2019s educational policy, free Senior High Schools (SHS), if they win power, since they didn\u2019t start.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome people believe that you [NDC] didn\u2019t start free SHS; you might not even know how to continue. And the nation will suffer for it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The Vice President is seeking to be elected as the president and will face off with the former president and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, who is seeking re-election.<\/p>\n
