{"id":138242,"date":"2024-01-12T10:27:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-12T10:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/12\/pdp-commends-scourt-verdict-affirming-eno-as-akwa-ibom-gov\/"},"modified":"2024-01-12T10:27:41","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T10:27:41","slug":"pdp-commends-scourt-verdict-affirming-eno-as-akwa-ibom-gov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/12\/pdp-commends-scourt-verdict-affirming-eno-as-akwa-ibom-gov\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Commends S\u2019Court Verdict Affirming Eno As Akwa Ibom Gov."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-871983\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Umo-Eno_4-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, lauded the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.<\/p>\n<p>A five-member panel of the Court led by Uwani Abba-Aji, dismissed three separate appeals filed by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Akanimo Udofia; Young Progressives Party and its candidate, Albert Bassey, as well as the New Nigeria Peoples Party and its candidate, John Udoedehe.<\/p>\n<p>The candidates had levelled several allegations against Eno, one of which was that the governor forged his secondary school certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<p>However, the apex court quashed all the petitions for lacking merit.<\/p>\n<p>Lead counsel to the respective parties also withdrew their separate appeals after the court hinted that the appeals lacked merit.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, PDP\u2019s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, said the judgment is a \u201cvictory for Democracy and the decisive triumph of the will of the people\u201d of Akwa Ibom State \u201cin their determination to preserve good governance in their state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: \u2018I Didn\u2019t Defect From APC, I Only Resigned To Join Another Party\u2019 \u2014 LP\u2019s Kenneth Okonkwo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the Party, the \u201cspontaneous jubilation\u201d across the South-south state shows that the \u201cverdict is in line with their expressed will, aspiration and choice\u201d of the people at the governorship election.<\/p>\n<p>PDP furthered that Eno is a \u201chumble, compassionate and visionary leader, a seasoned administrator with extensive managerial skills which he acquired over the years in both private and public sectors; qualities that continue to endear him to the people of Akwa Ibom State, and for which they overwhelmingly elected him at the poll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Party is proud of his capacity for leadership especially in hitting the ground running upon inauguration with the launching of the Arise Agenda leading to monumental achievements in the delivery of life-changing citizen empowerment programmes and projects in critical sectors including Agriculture, Education, Healthcare, Security, Housing, Road infrastructure, Manufacturing, Commerce, Aviation among others,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP urged Eno to \u201cremain steadfast in building on the legacies\u201d of Udom Emmanuel, his predecessor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-884927454\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, lauded the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
