{"id":137420,"date":"2024-01-09T14:41:07","date_gmt":"2024-01-09T14:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/09\/we-use-facebook-to-lure-victims-kidnappers-tell-police\/"},"modified":"2024-01-09T14:41:07","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T14:41:07","slug":"we-use-facebook-to-lure-victims-kidnappers-tell-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2024\/01\/09\/we-use-facebook-to-lure-victims-kidnappers-tell-police\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;We Use Facebook To Lure Victims&#8217; \u2013 Kidnappers Tell Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-631648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Facebook.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"332\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Kidnappers arrested in Anambra State recently, have confessed to Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, how they use Facebook to get their victims.<\/p>\n<p>The Anambra State Police Command, on Monday, highlighted the suspects\u2019 confession, stating how they use attractive pictures of women on Facebook to entice their victims.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference held in Awka, Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police in the State, revealed the individuals were among suspects arrested by the command since December 1, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the command has successfully arrested approximately 30 individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities.<\/p>\n<p>Out of these arrests, 12 were related to kidnapping, nine to armed robbery, six to cultism, and three to insurgency across the State.<\/p>\n<p>Adeoye further disclosed that the Force were able to recover 11 vehicles, 12 firearms, and 40 rounds of ammunition from the suspects during this period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: Abductors Of Seven Family Members Demand N30m Ransom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner of Police reported that a gang of attackers killed two police personnel at Uga Roundabout in the Aguata Local Government area of the State.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that the culprits were traced to their camp in Ogboji forest, where two of them were fatally shot by the police.<\/p>\n<p>Operatives, he said, apprehended a notorious armed robber and kidnapper from Oba, Emmanuel Orjiakor, who sustained gunshot injuries during an encounter with the Anambra Vigilante Group.<\/p>\n<p>Moreso, Obinna Ekwunife, aged 27, was arrested on December 1 in connection with the kidnapping of Emmanuel Tobechukwu, who paid a ransom of N9 million to a Point of Sale operator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon interrogation, they confessed to be involved in the kidnap of one Obioma Godswill from Delta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey further stated that they normally lured their victims using Facebook accounts with pictures of beautiful ladies, to their hideout, where they keep them and collect ransom before they are released,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-1433932724\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kidnappers arrested in Anambra State recently, have confessed to Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, how they use Facebook to get their victims.
