Former Member of Parliament for Ayensuano, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, has criticized Ernest Owusu-Bempeh, the Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), over his recent comments predicting a looming power crisis under a potential Mahama administration as reported by Ghana Web on Friday, December 27, 2024.
Owusu-Bempeh had suggested that Ghana would soon experience another power outage crisis and other hardships.
In a recent interview with Joy Prime on December 24, 2024, Ayeh-Paye expressed disappointment with such statements, which he believed undermined the achievements of the current Akufo-Addo government.
He accused NPP communicators of ignorantly suggesting that the administration had failed, particularly in managing the country’s energy sector.
“The comments being made only raise questions about the Akufo-Addo administration’s legacy and the state of Ghana after eight years in power,” Ayeh-Paye stated.
He further questioned why Owusu-Bempeh would speak of impending hardship when the country is still under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Ayeh-Paye advised NPP members, especially communicators, to be cautious with their statements, urging them to refrain from making such predictions.
He emphasized that the current government still holds power and that any talk of future crises should be based on concrete evidence of poor management.
“We should stop this,” he added, urging a more responsible approach to political discourse.
