Banker Returns After Eight Years to Find Family House in Ashanti Region Overrun by Bushes

According to Ghana Web report, In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Kwame Asare, a banker from the Ashanti Region, returned to his family home after eight years, only to find that his once vibrant family house had been overtaken by nature. After leaving his rural home in 2016 to pursue a banking career in Accra, Kwame had longed to reconnect with his roots. However, work commitments and life’s demands kept him away until December 2024, when he finally made the journey back.

Upon his arrival in a small village in the Ashanti Region, Kwame was met with a shocking sight. The house, which he had fond memories of, was in ruins, surrounded by tall grass and thick bushes.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes. I have memories of playing in the yard and spending time with my family here. Now, it looks abandoned and forgotten,” Kwame said, his voice filled with disbelief.

Local residents who knew the family explained that the house had been left to deteriorate over the years due to neglect. “The family left, and no one has lived here since,” said one neighbor. “The place has been taken over by nature. We didn’t expect the house to look like this.”

When Kwame left for Accra in 2016, his parents were alive, and everything seemed well. However, upon his return, he discovered that both of his parents had passed away during his absence. He learned of their deaths from the neighbors, which added to the emotional burden of his visit.

Now faced with the difficult reality of his family home’s dilapidated condition, Kwame must decide the future of the property. “I never imagined this would happen,” he said. “I want to take care of it, but it’s a big challenge. I’ll have to clear the place, maybe rebuild, and figure out what to do with my parents’ belongings.”
