John Kapi, WAEC’s Director of Public Affairs, refuted the claim, labeling it inaccurate and baseless. According to Kapi, no formal discussion or agreement between WAEC and the Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, ever confirmed such a timeline.
“The minister visited our offices, saw the situation with the machines, and observed some processes. However, there was no formal engagement to determine or communicate a specific release date,” Kapi explained during an interview with Starr FM.
He criticized the Minister’s announcement, expressing concern over its potential to create false expectations for candidates and their families.
“This is about people’s futures. We also have staff with children waiting for these results, so this affects us all. We need honesty and collective efforts to address the challenges,” he added.
WAEC has been struggling with delays in releasing the results due to logistical issues and significant government debts, reportedly exceeding GH¢100 million.
These challenges have hindered the processing of results for over 460,000 candidates nationwide.
Despite this, Dr. Adutwum assured the public earlier this week that WAEC is making progress and results will be out by December 29.
However, WAEC insists no such timeline is guaranteed, urging transparency and collaboration to resolve the issues affecting the release.
