Just 1 per cent of people can spot mistake in this watch face

Trying to solve a brainteaser can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Those who have fun are often the ones who manage to solve the challenge with relative ease, while those who struggle perhaps don’t have the best things to say about optical illusions.

Whatever side of the fence you’re on, brainteasers are a great way of keeping the brain active and are often played over the Christmas period. Whether you are a young child or great grandparent, anyone can solve a brainteaser if they are sharp in the mind.

The latest optical illusion really does separate the smart from the not so gifted. The mental challenge involves a picture of a classic watch face, complete with brown leather strap. At first glance the watch looks as it should do, with the Roman numerals clear for everybody to see. Not all is what it should be, however.

In fact, there is a massive mistake in the picture and those taking part in the challenge have just 11 seconds to spot it. According to India Times, only one per cent of people can spot the error within the allocated time, with 99 per cent of challengers failing miserably.

The Roman numerals on the watch face are black while the watch itself has a brown strap and gold-plated frame around the white dial. Can you spot the glaring mistake? It really is quite simple! If you are yet to spot the error, focus your attention on the watch face itself and in particular the Roman numerals.

If you can’t spot it, look away now as we reveal the answer! The numbers IX and XI have switched places, with only the eagle eyed challengers spotting the mistake. So, if you managed to spot the mistake, a massive congratulations as you have proven you have eagle eyes and a very sharp brain.

The answer to the brainteaser has been revealed

Brainteasers are designed to challenge cognitive function and visual perception. Neurological experts report that taking time to focus on mental exercise, such as regularly challenging yourself to complete brainteasers, can help to provide a number of cognitive benefits. These benefits could help to reduce your risk of developing neurodivergent diseases, like Alzheimer’s, and protect from dementia. Plus, brain teasers are fun – what better way to beat your friends than to set the timer and see who can solve it first? Have a go at other optical illusions here!
