The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the re-collation of election results for certain constituencies at the Tesano Police Depot has been suspended indefinitely.
According to a report by Graphic Online on Friday, December 13, 2024, in a statement issued on Friday, December 13, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tettey, EC Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, the commission explained that the decision to pause the exercise was made in consultation with the Election Security Taskforce.
The re-collation process was initiated after disruptions on Election Day and subsequent days prevented the completion of collation and declaration of results in some constituencies.
Additionally, the EC noted that collation in certain areas during last Saturday’s elections failed to adhere to legal protocols outlined in C.I. 127.
The Tesano Police Depot was selected as a secure venue for the re-collation of results, allowing election officers and political party agents to address the issues in a controlled environment.
However, the EC’s latest statement has put these activities on hold.
“These re-collation exercises have been put on hold until further notice,” the statement read.
The EC’s decision has raised questions about the next steps for resolving the disputed results. Political parties and their supporters remain on edge as the suspension adds uncertainty to an already tense electoral atmosphere.
