According to reports from GhanaWeb, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced its readiness to declare the official results of the 2024 presidential election following a prolonged delay in the collation process.
The Commission confirmed that the collation of results at the regional level has been completed, setting the stage for the highly anticipated announcement.
This delay has generated considerable anticipation among the public, as official results have been pending for over 24 hours since voting concluded across all 276 constituencies on December 7, 2024.
Voters and political observers alike have been eagerly awaiting the outcome, creating a tense atmosphere in the country.
Despite the absence of official results, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has already conceded defeat in the 2024 presidential race.
During a press conference on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Bawumia acknowledged the election results and expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for their support throughout his campaign.
In his concession speech, Bawumia stated, “I have just called His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him as President-elect of the Republic of Ghana.”
