Ghana Golf Association hosts seminar to inspire women in golf

The Ghana Golf Association (GGA), with support from The R&A, organized “The Corporate Woman and Golf Seminar” to break stereotypes surrounding the sport and encourage women’s participation. The event highlighted golf’s benefits, particularly for corporate women, aiming to make the sport more inclusive and accessible.

Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi, 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, served as the guest speaker. She shared how her father’s passion for golf inspired her and praised the sport for teaching discipline and offering a chance to recharge.

Veteran golfer Dr. Esther Amedzro reflected on the sparse female participation during her early days, expressing joy over the growing interest today. “Golf builds networks, enhances focus, and brings immense joy,” she said.

Businesswoman Adwoa Asare Asamoah recounted discovering golf in 2017, dismissing cost misconceptions by starting with second-hand clubs.

The GGA also showcased its adoption of the Women in Golf Charter, which promotes reduced membership fees for women, making the sport more affordable.

The event demonstrated a collaborative effort to make golf accessible to all women.
