The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Elections Director, Dr. Omane Boamah, has raised concerns over the recall of ballot papers ahead of the 2024 elections in Ghana. The recall was necessitated by discrepancies in the serial numbers on the ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions ¹.
Dr. Boamah commended the Electoral Commission for its transparency in informing all political parties about the recall, but expressed worry about the potential impact on the electoral process. He also noted that the same company, Checkpoint, was responsible for printing ballots for both regions, and that a ballot paper from the Eastern region was reported stolen.
The Electoral Commission has rescheduled special voting in the affected regions to Thursday, December 5, and has engaged three printing houses to ensure secure reprinting of the ballots. The NDC has also intensified its voter education campaign ahead of the December 7 general elections .
