Owusu-Bempah Dismisses Friendship with Hopeson Adorye, Says They Were Just Political Allies

Ernest Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, the Corporate Communication Specialist and Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), has firmly stated that Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has never been his friend as reported by Ghana Web on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

According to Owusu-Bempah, while both men fought for the same political cause, there was no personal friendship between them, contrary to public belief.

“Hopeson Adorye has never been my friend. He has never been my friend, and he was not my friend. We were just fighting a cause for our political party, which is the NPP,” Owusu-Bempah emphasized.

He added that Adorye’s recent departure from the NPP and his decision to support the Afranfranto political movement further solidified the lack of personal ties between them.

In addition, Owusu-Bempah spoke about former NPP presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen, whom he described as someone he deeply respects.

However, he suggested that Kyerematen’s recent criticisms of former President Agyekum Kufuor were driven by strong emotions rather than any real political differences. “Alan spoke out of bitterness and emotions. I don’t think he meant what he said; he spoke from within the heart,” he remarked.

Despite Kyerematen’s public outburst, Owusu-Bempah remains optimistic about his return to the NPP fold. “Alan is still a member of the NPP, and even if it takes a thousand years, he will return to the NPP.

He has done this before, and I am optimistic he will return to the party,” he stated. Owusu-Bempah also urged NPP members to avoid insulting Kyerematen, emphasizing that his future within the party remains intact.
