With just eight days to the 2024 Ghanaian general election, a new poll by Global Info Analytics has projected a clear victory for John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The poll predicts Mahama will secure 52.2% of the total votes, crossing the 50% threshold needed to win the presidency in the first round.
This puts him ahead of his closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, who is expected to get 41.4% of the votes.
Other candidates in the race are Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, running as an independent candidate, who is projected to receive 2.5%, and Nana Kwame Bediako of the Movement for Change, who is forecasted to get 3.0%. The remaining candidates combined are expected to share the remaining 0.9%.
The prediction has sparked discussions on social media, where Ghanaians are sharing their views on the poll results.
