The Ashanti Regional Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain Mohammed Yussif, has urged Muslims to vote responsibly in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that each person has one vote.
Speaking with the press at the peaceful election forum to advocate for peace and unity among Zongos ahead of the December election at Aboabo in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, Captain Yussif cautioned against accepting bribes in exchange for votes, calling it a betrayal of Islamic principles.
“Each and every person has only one vote. If you find yourself voting more than once then you are committing illegality and for that matter everybody should find themselves voting once and promoting peace before the election, during and after the elections.”
“…We should stop taking bribes and we should stop committing crime in the course of this peaceful election because anybody who will be found doing that will be treated as a criminal,” he said.
Captain Yussif further indicated that he had been engaging with mosque leaders in Greater Kumasi, spreading a message of peace and unity during this election period.
