The Regent of Akrofuom, Nana Anim Agyekum II, has commended the government for elevating the town to district status, which he believes has spurred significant development in the community.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Anim Agyekum II expressed his gratitude for the progress the district has made since its creation.
However, he urged Dr Bawumia to prioritize improving the town’s roads, emphasizing that addressing this issue would further enhance the development of Akrofuom and its surrounding areas.
“Extend our appreciation to President Akufo-Addo on our behalf for making us a district. Tell him we are very much grateful. Now that you are here also, we, the people of Akrofrom, want to assure you of our support as our son.
“We know that whatever we ask, your government ensures that it is done for us. But I want to add finally that our road network needs development as soon as possible,” he stated.
In response, Dr Bawumia promised to fix the poor road network in the constituency when elected as president.
“My opponent has only one term left if he wins the 2024 elections? He will not come here to account to you the things he has done. But I have the opportunity to serve two terms and in seeking my second term, I will have to come here and seek your vote again.
“When I come, Nana will ask me about the roads I promised. Then I can respond by saying to him, just look at the asphalted roads in your district. Your DCE has been chasing me regarding your roads. I want you to trust your roads in my care and when I come to power, I will ensure it is done,” he stated.
