As the next presidential and parliamentary elections approach, some unscrupulous individuals have seized the opportunity to dupe unsuspecting individuals of their hard-earned money.
There has been a viral message on various social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, that Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic (Congress), is rewarding Ghanaians with an amount of money.
To earn the reward, links are provided that you press on, follow the pop-up menu and complete a task. After completing the task, you are asked to forward the message to several individuals to stand a chance to win the money available for grabs.
Many unsuspecting individuals have been forwarding the message to their family and friends after completing the task, hoping to be rewarded by the Former President.
But in a Facebook post on his verified Facebook page, John Dramani Mahama said such a message did not come from his office, describing it as fake. The leader of the leading opposition party has asked the general public to disregard the message and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
He urged Ghanaians not to fall prey to the unscrupulous individuals who want to use his name to dupe unsuspecting individuals.
The bold message from John Dramani Mahama has cleared the doubt some citizens have about the originality or otherwise of the message.
Netizens took to his comments section to thank him for clearing their doubts, urging that the message should be shared on other social media platforms to educate Ghanaians.
