In a night celebrating Ghana’s strides in cybersecurity, Asaase Broadcasting Company received a prestigious award from the National Cyber Security Authority (CSA) for its dedication to bolstering the nation’s digital security landscape.
The honour was presented to Asaase CEO George Andah by Communications and Digitalisation Minister Ursula Owusu Ekuful during the 2024 Cybersecurity Awards Night, held on Friday (1 November) at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Asaase was acknowledged among media outlets that have played pivotal roles in promoting cybersecurity awareness and supporting the CSA’s initiatives.
“This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a secure digital environment for our audience and partners. It not only reflects our dedicated efforts but also positions us as a leader in promoting cybersecurity within the broadcasting sector,” CEO Andah said after receiving the award.
Asaase’s initiatives in cybersecurity include partnerships with the CSA that have delivered comprehensive training sessions for its staff, along with the widely recognised “Cybersecurity Minute” campaign.
By broadcasting this segment across all stations, Asaase has sparked essential conversations about digital safety, equipping listeners with tools to navigate the digital world securely.
“As we embrace this recognition, we see it as an opportunity for even greater partnerships in the future,” Andah continued.
“Together, we can drive impactful initiatives that elevate cybersecurity standards and protect our digital landscape. We invite all our stakeholders to join us in this vital mission as we continue to set the pace for excellence in broadcasting and community safety.”
Since its establishment in 2017, the CSA has driven the agenda for safer digital spaces in Ghana, aided by the appointment of the National Cybersecurity Advisor.
This mission took a significant step forward in 2020 when the CSA evolved into the National Cyber Security Centre, under the National Cyber Security Act, becoming an official agency within the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD).
With the backing of media organisations like Asaase, the CSA continues to expand its influence, ensuring that cybersecurity remains at the forefront of national development.
