The Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has encouraged users to report any service provider that fails to launch the 5G network by 31 December this year.

According to her, 5G has the potential to drive growth across various sectors, including banking, agriculture, and more. She noted that the arrival of 5G in Ghana is a major milestone for the nation’s telecommunications landscape.

Speaking at the 5G network launch on 1 November 2024, she stated: “We embrace the fifth generation, 5G, of communication networks. The potential of 5G extends beyond mere development; it is a revolutionary leap forward that promises to redefine connectivity, productivity, and the overall quality of life.”

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful also announced that Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi will immediately begin experiencing 5G services as providers launch the network, with other regions expected to follow by the end of 2024.

The Minister added that her team is collaborating with telecom providers to introduce affordable data plans for consumers.

“Hold your network provider accountable because they must make this service available to you,” she concluded.
