One of NDC’s gallant soldiers, Sam George has served a strong daring message to the Chief Justice and the entire Supreme Court amidst their plans on getting parliament to resume sittings. Parliamentary sittings have been adjourned indefinitely by the speaker during the last sitting as a result of the NPP staging a walk-out whiles proceedings were underway.
The Supreme Court has started proceedings and is yet to come out with another ruling following the speakers decision to adjourn the house indefinitely. The genesis of this whole issue dates back to the declaration of some vacant seats by the speaker due to the decision taken by some members to contest as independent candidates. The NPP caucus sought for legal review at the Supreme Court after the speakers ruling where the court ordered the speaker to overturn his decision. The speaker has clearly reiterated his unwillingness to accept rulings from the court and has submitted an application to the court to set aside its rulings.
Heated arguments has erupted following a post shared by Sam George on twitter. “If you think you have power, come and open Parliament and please your paymasters”, he boldly shared. This was to notify the court on their jurisdiction of operation which ideally requires it to stay out of parliamentary affairs especially, the current matter at hand. Many netizens reacted to the post where supports were thrown behind the member of parliament. Find below some comments I gathered from the post.
