Hatters to strike in defeat at Anfield –

Liverpool will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League when they take on Luton on Wednesday evening.

The Hatters are coming into this game off the back of two straight defeats that put an end to a string of positive results and will now be aspiring to escape the relegation zone.

Liverpool’s injury crisis deepened at the weekend as Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were both added to the injury list, joining Alisson, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the sidelines.

Jurgen Klopp says Jota will be missing for months, ruling him out of a crucial period that includes Sunday’s League Cup final, but there is better news on Darwin Nunez, who looks to have shaken off the issue that forced him off at half-time last time out.

Elijah Adebayo has been ruled out for Luton because of a hamstring issue, along with Jacob Brown, with the duo joining Marvelous Nakamba, Tom Lockyer and Mads Andersen on the sidelines.

New signing Daiki Hashioka is a doubt, but Cauley Woodrow is available for selection.

The stats

Both teams have scored in each of Liverpool’s last six competitive games, while the Reds have won six of their last seven Premier League assignments.

Luton have scored in 12 successive league matches and they are unbeaten in their last five away games in all competitions, having scored four in their last road outing at Newcastle.

Liverpool to win and both teams to score has landed in 10 of Liverpool’s top-flight games this season.
