National Communication member of of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Gyesi Boako has sparked debate on the commitments of party executives following revelations that thousands of members left their responsibilities and moved abroad when the party was in power.
In a social media post, Dr. Gyesi Boako highlighted the challenges posses by this trend, stating that, “2,946 polling station executives, 71 constituency officers, 18 regional officers and 1 national officer” to the positions and abandoned their responsibilities and left to abroad. He questioned how the party could win elections with such an attitude and criticised those who failed to fulfil their duties.
“How can we win with this attitude and which people were they expecting to campaign” he questioned.
“This must stop,” Dr Boako emphasised, adding that the situation reflects a broader problem within the party. According to him, 39% of party members are unemployed, 28.3% have well paying jobs, 22.8% secured jobs but later misbehaved, and 9.3% prefer informal means of income, often relying on intermediaries for survival. He cautioned that the party faces backlash from disgruntled members when promises are not fulfilled, stating ” war on you if you fail to perform that ritual, they will finish you with insults and accusations” he added.
