On December 27, a Facebook user, Sadia Alhassan, shared a video on her page with the caption, “Akuffo Addo has been rushed to Nyaho Medical Centre.” The post has since garnered over 814,000 views, more than 1,700 comments, and over 260 likes. The video has also been shared by other social media users here and here.
A Facebook post by Gh AfroMedia House similarly claimed, “President Nana Addo has been rushed to the hospital.”
Various comments under the post questioned the authenticity of the video, with some users wishing the video was true and calling for an investigation into the alleged activities of the president following the 2024 general elections.
Verification
To authenticate the video, Citi Verify conducted an InVID verification process and used a Google reverse image search. These revealed that the video surfaced online in November 2019.
At that time, it was clarified that the footage showed President Akufo-Addo visiting Tommy Amematekpor, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who was receiving treatment at Nyaho Medical Centre.
This clarification was supported by a statement from Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, who dispelled claims that the president had been hospitalised.

Furthermore, a Citi News correspondent at the Presidency confirmed that President Akufo-Addo was in good health. On December 27, he was present at the commissioning of the STEM school at East Legon, further disproving the claim.
