Ablakwa Raises Alarm Over Delayed Investigations on 700 Parliament Cases

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed deep concern over the delayed investigations into over 700 cases pending within Parliament. The MP recently raised the issue, highlighting the significant backlog and the negative impact it is having on the efficiency and credibility of the legislative body.
Ablakwa pointed out that these delayed investigations, many of which involve serious allegations of misconduct and corruption, are undermining public trust in Parliament. He criticized the slow pace at which the Parliamentary Select Committees are addressing these cases, noting that such delays are preventing justice from being served and fostering a culture of impunity.
The North Tongu MP emphasized that Parliament must take decisive action to address the issue, urging that there be a more streamlined and transparent process for handling these cases. He stressed that the long delay in investigating these matters sends the wrong message to the public, particularly in a period when accountability is more important than ever.
Ablakwa also called on the leadership of Parliament, including the Speaker, to provide clarity on why these cases are taking so long to be investigated and what measures are being put in place to expedite the process. He noted that such a large number of unresolved cases could potentially harm the reputation of Parliament and its members.
