According to Ghana Web on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Manso, who hosts a morning show at Despite Media, alleged that NAPO did not receive any financial support from the NPP or the presidency for his campaign.
During a segment on Neat FM on December 23, 2024, Manso stated that certain factions within the party were opposed to NAPO’s selection as running mate, leading to the withholding of campaign funds.
“NAPO financed his own campaign from his personal pocket,” Manso said, expressing disbelief over the lack of backing from the party.
He further criticized the NPP, claiming that the presidency did not allocate any resources for NAPO’s election activities.
Manso also suggested that NAPO’s selection was influenced by his family connections, rather than party-wide consensus. “Certain people, the ‘GBKB people,’ didn’t agree with NAPO’s selection as running mate,” he said.
He raised questions about the motivations behind such decisions, asking why a running mate would be left to self-finance. “If it is not wickedness, why wouldn’t they have given their running mate money to campaign?” Manso added.
The allegations come after the Electoral Commission’s declaration of John Mahama as the winner of the 2024 presidential election, with Dr. Bawumia trailing behind in votes.
Despite these claims, the full impact of such internal party disputes remains to be seen.
