Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, is calling on all stakeholders to support the EC’s efforts to complete the remaining electoral processes following the 2024 general elections. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and trust to ensure a transparent and credible conclusion of the EC’s work .
Dr. Asare highlighted the Commission’s constitutional independence, as stated in Article 46 of the 1992 Constitution, which ensures the EC acts impartially and independently in electoral matters. The EC is urging political parties, candidates, and the public to allow them to fulfill their constitutional duties without interference.
This isn’t Dr. Asare’s first time speaking out on electoral matters. Previously, he made a strong case for a “Yes” vote in the 2019 referendum, which aimed to allow political parties to participate in local government elections . He also addressed concerns about the voter register, stating that all problems identified by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been resolved .
