According to 3news on Saturday, December 21, 2024, five wedding guests lost their lives in a road accident in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The guests were returning from a wedding ceremony when their vehicle crashed, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred on a busy stretch of road as the guests were on their way back from the celebration.
According to one onlooker, “It was supposed to be a joyful day, but it ended in heartbreak. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the wreckage.”
The vehicle, which was packed with passengers, reportedly lost control before crashing into a ditch. Some passengers were thrown out, while others remained trapped inside the mangled car.
The incident has left the local community shaken, with many expressing their sorrow. One resident said,
“We can’t fathom how such a thing could happen. These were people who had been celebrating love and joy, and now their families are in deep pain.”
Rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. However, despite their best efforts, five guests, including two men and three women, were confirmed dead.
Several others were rushed to the nearest hospital with injuries, though some are in critical condition.
The local police have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. They are also urging drivers to exercise caution, especially during festive seasons when the roads can be busier than usual.
A police spokesperson stated, “We are looking into all possible causes, including speeding and mechanical failure. Our condolences go to the families of the victims.”
