Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC’s National Chairman, announced this decision, emphasizing that any last-minute appointments, if found to be illegal, will also be terminated.
During a victory rally in Sunyani on December 20, Asiedu Nketiah accused the NPP government of issuing over 10,000 appointment letters and promoting several public sector employees in the final days of their term.
He raised concerns about the timing of these actions, questioning the NPP’s motivations behind the sudden moves.
“We have gathered information about promotions and appointments in various agencies like the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority,” Nketiah said.
He also alleged that some appointment letters were backdated in an effort to cover up illegal activities within the outgoing administration.
Asiedu Nketiah specifically mentioned promotions that were given to individuals he believes were aligned with the NPP, even though they were not due for such advancements.
According to him, these individuals were strategically placed in key positions to protect the outgoing government’s interests.
He made it clear that any recruitment or promotions found to be illegal would be reversed, and those responsible for orchestrating these moves could face dismissal.
“Any official involved in these fraudulent activities will be sacked unless they can provide a legitimate explanation,” Nketiah stated, revealing the NDC’s commitment to addressing what they see as corruption within public institutions.
The NDC has promised to thoroughly investigate these last-minute actions and take appropriate measures once in power.
