A stunning revelation has surfaced from Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), alleging that a private individual misused Ghana’s exclusive presidential lane at Kotoka International Airport. Adorye claims that this individual was granted access to the prestigious lane, typically reserved for the country’s highest officials, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, to transport five Land Cruisers loaded with goods out of the country.
Speaking during a recent television interview, Adorye provided details of the incident, which he claims took place on December 18, 2024. According to him, the private individual had only arrived in Ghana two days earlier and departed the country on the same day around 11:30 a.m.
He recounted the incident, stating, “An individual used the presidential lane at the airport to load five Land Cruisers full of things into his private jet. My problem is, what are in those cars? This person came into Ghana two days ago and was returning on 18th December 2024 around 11:30 a.m. When I got the intel, I contacted some NDC officials, and they gave me some security personnel to go to the airport. When we got to the airport, we parked our cars behind, and as we were about to enter the airport, we met one police officer at the entrance.”
Adorye described how his team approached the officer with the intention of investigating the suspicious activity, only to realize that the private individual had already begun expediting the process of moving the vehicles. “As we were chatting with the policeman at the office, stating that we are here for peace but just to act on some illegal things being transported outside the country, this private man has been allowed to use the presidential lane to transport all the five Land Cruisers full of goods. I think they saw us on the camera—that’s why they sped up with the process and got those cars out of the country,” Adorye added.
