The reality will soon dawn on those who crossed carpet – Kennedy Osei reflects on NPP’s defeat

In the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) poor performance in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has called for unity among party members.

Reflecting on the party’s defeat, Osei noted that internal divisions and voter dissatisfaction played significant roles in the outcome, as reported by News Ghana.

In a statement shared on Facebook, he said, “The reality will soon dawn on those who crossed the carpet, those who voted skirt & blouse, and those who refused to vote. It’s just a matter of time.”

The elections revealed underlying tensions within the NPP, including disagreements among members and a lack of voter enthusiasm.

Despite these challenges, Osei emphasized the need for resilience. “Let’s be focused and not be weighed down by the abysmal performance of the party in the December 7th elections,” he urged.

As the NPP faces a period of introspection, party leaders and members are being encouraged to put aside differences and strategize for the future.

Observers say the ability to unify and address internal issues will be crucial for the party’s recovery.

The call for unity comes as the party seeks to rebuild trust with its supporters and strengthen its base ahead of future political contests.
