KT Hammond Demands Apology and Retraction from Captain Smart Over Alleged Tribal Remarks

According to a Report from Adom Online, In a recent development, Kobina Tahir Hammond, Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has formally demanded an apology and retraction from radio presenter Captain Smart. The demand follows accusations made by Captain Smart in a viral video, where the presenter allegedly attributed tribalistic remarks to Hammond.

Hammond’s lawyer, Kweku Y. Paintsil, clarified that the video in question showed the MP in a visibly agitated state, surrounded by a group of people outside his residence. However, the commentary accompanying the footage purportedly suggested that Hammond had made derogatory comments about an “Ewe person” challenging him for his parliamentary seat in the Ashanti Region.

In response to these allegations, KT Hammond has strongly denied the accusations, describing them as both false and defamatory. Hammond expressed that the claims have caused him significant distress and damage to his reputation. “The statements attributed to me are entirely false and have brought me considerable embarrassment,” Hammond said, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The MP’s legal team has demanded that Captain Smart publicly apologize and retract the remarks. They have set a deadline of December 18, 2024, for a satisfactory response. Should the radio presenter fail to comply, Hammond intends to take legal action, including issuing a writ for reputational damage and legal costs.
