A ‘British Rapunzel’ with 5ft long locks says she’s won over 500 hearts this year but is still yet to find Mr Right.
Jasmine Larsen – known as ‘Britain’s real-life Rapunzel’ – from Bristol, became an online sensation after growing her natural red hair to an impressive 4ft 7ins, however her remarkable tresses have attracted the wrong eyes.
The influencer is regularly swarmed with attention from her 130,000 Instagram followers – whom she claims make odd requests for items like her personal hairbrush and strands of hair. She also claims to have declined a fetish-style offer to chop her hair for £250,000.
Jasmine – who has a masters degree in biochemistry – says her hair is now a fixation for ‘rich’ men who ‘who flaunt their money 24/7’ and desire her as a wife. But while she acknowledges their fat pockets, their approach has ‘put me off dating’.
‘I’m definitely getting more proposals than last year, I’ve had around 500’ lamented Jasmine.
‘Honestly, I’m getting a bit tired of them and usually tell these guys to find someone they truly connect with in person.
‘I’m not into dating through social media or apps, let alone marrying someone based on a few photos. It just feels strange. And, of course, there are still rich men who try to impress me by showing off their wealth.Â
‘[Men] have been relentless, growing more persistent and eager to marry me. Meanwhile, I’m over here struggling to date!’
The meagre romance in her life is not for lack of trying, as the singleton once tried dating app Tinder, but to no avail.
Jasmine says she’s been having a rough time shaking attention from moneyed men on dating apps.
‘I used to be on Tinder but decided to delete it’ revealed Jasmine.
‘It felt like I was constantly attracting either rich guys who couldn’t stop talking about their money or those with unusual fetishes.
‘Honestly, I’d much rather meet someone in person and let things develop naturally. I’ve also realised that having great photos on dating apps can sometimes backfire – people either put you on a pedestal or become overly fixated.
‘Plus, I’ve been attracting wealthy, showy men who flaunt their money 24/7, which has definitely turned me off from dating. It’s really made me rethink dating entirely!’
Jasmine also shared how she was offered £250,000 by one follower to chop off her lengthy locks – which she turned down.
Fans have been bombarding her with shocking requests, as well as encouraging her to chop and donate her ‘priceless’ locks.
Jasmine said: ‘I’ve gotten some truly bizarre requests, like being asked to wrap my hair around a camera, send my hairbrush through the mail, or even collect the hair that naturally falls out and send it to them.
‘It’s also strange when other women express negativity or insist that I should donate my hair.
‘I made a follow-up video in response, which sparked a conversation about the right to keep our hair and the judgment women face for such choices.
‘Many shared their own experiences, emphasizing that it’s strange how people feel entitled to have opinions on something so personal.
‘This discussion grew into a broader topic about how women are judged for all aspects of their lives – hair, weight, fashion, and more’.
Jasmine, who is currently building her company, LARS Haircare, has been growing her tresses since 2017 and recently had her first haircut – though it was just a short trim.
She said: ‘Approximately 5-10 cm was trimmed from my hair to remove breakage and create a more even, polished look at the ends.
‘The hairdressers did an excellent job, removing just the right amount to freshen up my ends without significantly affecting my length – a common concern for girls with long hair when getting trims at a salon.
‘To make sure this didn’t happen, I came prepared with a measuring tape and emphasised repeatedly that I only wanted 5-10 cm off. It 1734724162 feels absolutely amazing’.
Jasmine applies oil to her hair every day and braids it to avoid any breakage.
She also says that sticking to a healthy diet that is full of fruits and vegetables and drinking at least one litre of water each day has played an important part in the growth of her hair.
Jasmine added: ‘My diet is packed full of lots of fruits and veg. I especially think that eggs have been good when growing my hair because they are really high in protein.
‘And I think sweet potatoes and greens such as spinach have also been particularly good as I eat lots of these.
‘My hair is my natural colour. I have never dyed my hair so I think that has also been really helpful when growing it because it isn’t damaged from trying to colour or bleach it which is extremely damaging.
‘I wear my hair in a braid or a bun with oil each day to protect it and to avoid any breakage.
‘I even protect my hair while I am sleeping. I have a satin pillowcase that I sleep on and I also wear a satin bonnet to bed as my hair is so long over spills off of my satin pillow.
Jasmine rarely applies heat to her hair and only uses styling equipment for special occasions. She believes that has also been a fundamental part of her hair growth journey.
Jasmine said: ‘I only wash my hair once or twice a week and I let it air dry most of the time unless I am going out to a special event.
‘It usually takes an entire day for my hair to dry fully. It’s such a long process.
‘I only ever straighten my hair about once a month if I am going somewhere special. By using less heat on my hair it stops any damage that could cause any snapping.
‘My hair is naturally straight with a slight kink in it so I can still create so many great hairstyles with my hair because it is long without having to use heated appliances’.Â
Regarding her love life, the content creator says she’s given up on love, and would rather take a more holistic approach to life and focus on herself.
Instead she will be living her ‘best life’ and says dating is ‘not on her radar right now’.
