Broadcast journalist Afia Pokua, known as Vim Lady, has expressed her support for former President John Dramani Mahama’s “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL), a campaign aimed at reclaiming assets unlawfully acquired during previous administrations.
According to MyNewsGH on Thursday, December 19, 2024, However, she has raised concerns about recent actions reportedly carried out in the name of this initiative, which she views as lawless and detrimental to the country’s stability.
Speaking on Okay FM, Pokua voiced her commitment to the principle of accountability, stressing that she fully supports Mahama’s effort to recover misappropriated state assets.
“I wholeheartedly support Mahama’s vision to recover what belongs to Ghana,” she said.
Yet, she cautioned that taking the law into one’s hands could lead to chaos and undermine the rule of law. “If people take the law into their own hands, how different are we from the anarchy we claim to be fighting against?” she questioned.
Her remarks followed a controversial incident at the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), where an alleged entourage led by National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organizer Joseph Yammin attempted to seize bullion bars meant for the Bank of Ghana.
Pokua expressed concern that such actions, if unchecked, could set a dangerous precedent.
She warned that bypassing established institutions in the name of justice could plunge the country into lawlessness. “We have institutions for a reason. If we bypass them, we’re heading straight into chaos,” she added.
