Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s vice president and presidential candidate, has stated that he has contacted and congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the December 2024 presidential election.
In his surrender speech, Bawumia was speaking to the media prior to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) formal pronouncement on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
According to the vice president, his organisation is aware that the remaining results won’t alter anything, even though not all of them have been received.
He said that in order to reduce the needless stress that the results announcement delay is creating, he needs to make the conceding defeat before the EC.
The elections were “free and fair,” Dr. Bawumia continued, praising the media for its “excellent reportage.”
