In a recent address at the Bortyman Sports Complex in Accra, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, firmly rejected the notion that all politicians are the same, specifically distancing himself from former President John Mahama. He emphasized that his political journey differs significantly from Mahama’s, noting that while Mahama has held the presidency, he has not yet had that opportunity.
During the event, part of his “Bawumia for Jobs” initiative, Bawumia encouraged the youth to maintain their faith in the political system and to trust in his vision for Ghana. He called on young voters to participate actively in the upcoming elections on December 7 and to support both his candidacy and the NPP’s parliamentary candidates.
According to GHOne TV, Bawumia acknowledged the disillusionment that many young people feel toward voting, suggesting that some might believe their votes do not matter. He countered this sentiment by stating, “Your vote makes a big difference,” urging them to see the value in their participation.
The Vice President’s comments have generated mixed reactions across the country. While some support his call for new leadership, others argue that Ghana requires experienced candidates to effectively tackle its economic challenges. As the election approaches, Bawumia’s remarks underscore the ongoing debate about leadership, experience, and the role of youth in shaping the nation’s future.
